About

This blog is to journal a passage in my life…it will include times of past, present and shifts forward, moving from breast cancer to baby to cancer again. I am a 37 year old woman who has tried to triumph while stumbling over a saddened heart, breast cancer while being pregnant and navigation of emotions fueled by pregnancy hormones. Thinking I had overcome and recovered, the cancer returned. Now, I am steering through this stage 4 breast cancer & Neuroendocrine cancer diagnosis with the crazy treatments that accompany healing, all while trying to be a mom and at my best for my little one. While I am striving to be calm and not fully defined by the isssues that life presents, it is a difficult road filled with doubt and discovery. I am learning to get through this passage hopefully stronger and braver and alive!

A friend of mine has helped me document the journey of my pre-breast cancer, and during cancer body. The photos, while revealing of my body, should tell a story of how we view ourselves and of how society deems us a woman. It is a long struggle to reside with one breast, and a distorted body from an inflamed, tumor ridden liver. I try to keep the insecurities at bay as my health, my longevity, mean so much more. Yet it is interesting to see how I think about the side effects as much as my longevity. So, here I am using this blog to record, vent, and heal. Hopefully, we can learn from one another.

Presently (January 2013), I have learned this blog has introduced me to so much support, guidance, and love. I re-read this about section and it has changed but I feel rather than explaining it here, the passages tell the story. We all evolve, grow in hopefully a forward movement, there have been many steps back but just as many footsteps forward. Wish me luck…
